History of the Bach Society - page 8
Vision and Rationale
Most of the concerts either performed or sponsored by the Bach Society of Queensland over the 40 years are listed separately, though it cannot be a definitive list. However, the attentive reader will see that it may appear that our original charter could have been breached - there are works appearing that are not only from Bach .. his family .. his precursors. This was a small thorn, but had not gone away. In the mid 1990‘s it was officially agreed that the word chiefly be included in the wording of what was now known as our “Aims and Objectives”. We could now, unequivocally, continue to perform work from a large and varied repertoire.......but ...
Johann Sebastian Bach’s music has always been the inspiration, the illumination, the epitome of our studies and song. How could he not be? He is the maestro of all composers. And we aim, as did our forerunners, to go on to extol his work and strive to keep it alive for all the generations to come.
